My husband and I booked the Masonboro tour with Michael after really loving the Shark Tooth Island tour. We were first time kayakers and he made us feel comfortable and the shark island tour was a lot of fun. We came home with 34+ teeth. We then asked him if we could book a longer paddle tour with him and he suggested the Masonboro tour. This took us through a scenic paddle through marshes where Michael shared his knowledge of the local wildlife. He ended the tour with a trip to a pristine and remote beach that words cannot describe. It was rich with wildlife, whole shells and a beautiful coastline shared with less than a dozen other people. Michael took photos so that we could enjoy each moment without risking our phones. This trip was the highlight of our week at Kure beach and awakened an interest in kayaking for both of us.

Aussie Yaks is amazing. They rented kayaks to us for a trip to Shark Tooth Island in Wilmington, NC and they went out of their way to make the experience great. They gave us so much advice on where to see wildlife and what to look for. They were so friendly, especially to our 3 year old. They went out of their way to support anything we needed help with. Their equipment was perfect and easy to use. They honestly felt with good friends or close family. I would highly recommend using Aussie Yaks and we will use them again when we return to the area.

I booked a shark tooth hunting excursion with Aussie Yaks, and it was an incredible experience! Laura and Mike were so welcoming and kind. Even though we accidentally went to the wrong location and arrived late, they greeted us with open arms. They gave us clear directions on how to kayak over to the island and back safely. Mike even came out to the island to help my sister when she was having a hard time finding teeth. Thanks to his help, she ended up finding a ton! It was an 11/10 experience. If you want to book a shark tooth adventure, I highly recommend booking through Aussie Yaks. They are awesome!

Five is just not enough stars for the tour and quality of our trip. All around the service and experience was amazing. Mike took such good care of us to Shark Tooth Island today. We had to reschedule due to high winds and he was so accommodating. We hadn’t kayaked in a long time and felt safe. The island is amazing with a very knowledgeable tour guide it made it an experience to remember! Hands down. Book a tour with Mike! Worth every bit and some!

We had an amazing time on our Shark Tooth Island tour.

Mike is the best! He was so kind, helpful and all around wonderful. We took our kids out on a kayak for the first time and Mike and Ben made it so fun for them, from telling them about the wildlife, island and helping them learn to how to search for Shark Teeth, they made them and us have so much fun. They even took pictures of us the whole time so we had pictures to remember this fun adventure by….other than the Shark Teeth we found!

If you’re looking for a great Kayak rental experience for a solo trip or for a tour I would definitely go with Mike!

Mike was amazing!! So knowledgeable and helpful! He prioritized our safety, and when we had to reschedule due to weather he made it super easy! Definitely plan on seeing him again for a tour! Bonus: he even made sure to take pictures and send them the same day!!

Had a great experience renting from Aussie Yaks! The kayaks were in great shape, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the whole rental process was quick and easy. They gave us good recommendations on where to paddle and made sure we had everything we needed before heading out. We had an awesome time on the water and will definitely be back. We had a great time with Mike on the water kayaking and looking for shark teeth. He is very knowledgeable about the waterways and the surrounding areas. He was very patient with us as new kayaking people. Took the time to show us how to look for shark teeth and even helped us look. We had a lot to take home. He even took photos of us and sent them to me through email so we could concentrate on our trip. We for sure return for more trips!!

Aussie Mike is A Legend, he is extremely knowledgeable about the entire area and its history. If you have never kayaked or even a seasoned vet you will definitely enjoy his tours!!!
